Vennie's
Landscapes My love of wide open
spaces, big beautiful skies, vast ocean escapes and
creatures great and small are seen in these landscape
paintings done in oil, acrylic or watercolor. Whatever
the scene, I prefer paintings that make me feel "brighter is
better". I do not try to paint with hidden meanings in
mind, but my main goal is to honor our Lord through this
work. I just hope my paintings bring joy to the owners
for years to come.

Vennie's
Portraits I typically paint children
and adults in a personal setting. If they are involved
in an activity, I like the viewer to look at the painting
and perhaps envision what may happen next. If the
child is eating an ice cream cone, will it eventually drip
on to the table and down the child's arm? I like the
painting to show something about the person's life or catch
the individual's personality. Portraits are done
primarily in oil or acrylic.

Vennie's Florals
Flowers are recent additions to my paintings. I love
flowers and gardening. That doesn't mean I have a
green thumb to grow many kinds of flowers so I strive to
paint flowers that look real or surreal. God has given
us such a wide variety of colors in nature. There are
so many bright colors too and I like to use these bright
colors in my paintings. I have painted daisies, day
lilies, hibiscus, cone flowers and roses to name a few.

Vennie's
Woodcarvings I love the
feel of wood in my hands! I love the smell of wood!
I especially love to carve into wood! My favorite
thing to carve is a bird. I prefer to carve wrens and
cardinals. My goal is to carve and paint the bird in
such a way that it looks real, as if ready to "sing".
Bill, my husband, is really the woodcarver, but he kept
asking me to try carving. I tried it and liked it!
My first love is painting, so I only carve for enjoyment or
when I receive a request.
